Sri Lankan Endemic Birds” is a special tour for passionate birders who specifically aimed to see endemic birds of Sri Lanka. From lush lowland forests to highland montane habitats, we'll take you on a 12-day journey through the natural habitats of all endemics.  

The tour length is 12 days and it covers the following destinations. 

  • Negombo
  • Kithulgala Forest Reserve
  • Victoriya Park, Nuwara Eliya
  • Horton Plains
  • Galways Land National Park
  • Kande Ela Forest reserve
  • Udawalawa National Park
  • Sinharaja Deniyaya side
  • Sinharaja Kudawa Side
  • Diyasaru Park Colombo.

Following is the proposed itinerary. But, this tour can be customized to fit your needs, interests, and budget.

Itineraries

Day 1

Rest in Negombo

On arrival, to be met by our English-speaking Guide. Transfer to your hotel in Negombo. [Optional: Visit Palagathuray beach]

Overnight Stay at Negombo

Day 2

Birding at Kithulgala Forest Reserve

Travel to Kithulgala. Birding at Kithulgala Forest reserve and in the evening, birding at the village setup.

Overnight Stay at Kithulgala

Day 3

Birding at Kithulgala Forest Reserve

Full-day birding in Kithulgala Forest Reserve, including nocturnal bird watching.

Day 4

Transfer to Nuwara Eliya

Travel to Nuwara Eliya. After lunch, visit Galways National Park, and Hakgala Botanic Gardens.

Day 5

Birding at Pidurutalagala and Kande Ela Forest Reserve

Visit Pidurutalagala Scout Camp for birding. And, evening birding at Kande Ela Forest Reserve.

Day 6

Horton Plains National Park

Travel to Udawalawa National Park. Early morning visit to Horton Plains National Park with packed breakfast and lunch. Evening birding at Buduruwagala Raja Maha Viharaya.

Day 7

Safari at Udawalawa National Park

Half-day jeep safari at the Udawalawa National Park, and evening birding at Pitadeniya trail at Eastern Sinharaja.

Overnight Stay at Deniyaya

Day 8

Birding in Sinharaja Rain Forest

Travel to Sinharaja Kudawa side, after early morning bird watching at Deniyaya. Evening birding at Ketalapaththala road at Kudawa.

Day 9

Birding in Sinharaja Rain Forest

Full-day birding in Sinharaja Rain Forest.

Overnight Stay at Sinharaja Kudawa.

Day 10

Birding at Pitakele Area

Morning half-day birding at the Pitakele area, travel to Colombo, and en route visit Runakanda, Morapitiya Forest Reserve.

Overnight Stay at Colombo

Day 11

Diyasaru Wetland Park

Shopping during the daytime and evening visit Diyasaru Wetland Park.

Overnight Stay at Colombo

Day 12

Departure Transfer

Proceed to the Airport in time.
